Air in Water

Ice prevention

Ice prevention systems are protecting hydraulic constructions and boats from being damaged by the forces of the ice layer.

Function

Water is reaching its highest density at a temperature of +4°C. This ensures that when the water surface is frozen to solid ice below the surface flowing water can be found even after long freezing periods. The rising bubbles of an ice prevention system are generating a vertical current which is transporting the warmer water from the depth to the surface and melting the ice.

Hydrotechnik has designed and built ice prevention systems for one boat up to whole marinas with a total system length of 5000 m.

Example
Example

Deepwater Aeration for reservoirs and lakes

  • Aeration by water circulation with air-lift pump.
  • High oxygen input by feeding air in small bubbles.
  • Oxygen feed-in only in the hypolimnion without disturbance of the layers of the water body.
  • Sectional construction of corrosion resistant materials.
  • Transport and assembly without crane.
